Help using the Filter System

Start by selecting a manufacturer from the list. The most common manufacturers are listed at the top followed by every other in alphabetical order. Until a manufacturer is selected all other filter options are inaccessible. The manufacturer list data is syncronised with the Japanese auction data servers every 60 seconds and is stored on our database for a faster user experience.

Based on the chosen manufacturer a list of available models is displayed. Until a model is selected the advanced filter options are inaccessible. The model list data is syncronised with the Japanese auction data servers every 60 seconds and is stored on our database for a faster user experience. You can return to the manufacturer list at any time by using the Back button.

All advanced filter options are pulled in via an API from the Japanese auction data centres based on the manufacturer and model selected.

Mileage is shown in KM and the options range from 10,000km to 150,000km for minimum mileage and 10,000km to 300,000km for maximum mileage. Odometer reading in miles is calculated and rounded up to the nearest 1000 on the auction listings.

Year of manufacturer options are selectable so you can choose min year to max year. So for a DC5 prefacelift you'd set the maximum year to 2003 for example.

Chassis IDs are the codes designated to a particular model. You can choose as many of these chassis IDs as you like to narrow down your search.

The overall auction grade is the auction inspector's assessment of the overall quality of the car. You can usually find it written in the top right corner of most auction inspection reports. To find out more click here.

A list of auction houses that have lots that match the manufacturer and model you have chosen are displayed along with the day of the week the auction runs on. You can choose as many of these houses as you like to narrow down your search. You can find out more about each auction house on the Auction House Guide.

Each time an option is chosen a search is performed to count the number of results available. If there are no results the button will change to red notifying you of no results. Try resetting the search parameters and filtering again.

The results data will then be down in a sortable table format. You can further pin point a result using the " Filter by Keyword" function.

This is useful for models such as the RX-7 where you are only looking for data on a Bathurst or Spirit R model. By typing "Bathurst" in the "Filter by Keyword" box it will filter out the models you aren't interested in.

There are a number of outcomes of an auction. These are detailed below.

This vehicle was removed from auction.

Often vehicles are listed with a fixed price up to 24 hours before they go to auction. If the vehicle sells this way then the lot is cancelled at the auction house. We often secure vehicles this way if the price advertised is less than the maximum calculated bid.

This vehicle reached reserve and sold via auction.

The reserve set by the seller was reached and the vehicle sold to the highest bidder.

This vehicle did not reach reserve and did not sell via negotiation.

Despite the seller being open to negotiation the price they would accept was too high for the bidders on the day.

This vehicle did not reach reserve but then sold via negotiation.

If the auction doesn't hit reserve then the car may go into "Negotiation" or "Nego". The highest bidder gets first refusal and the start price for Nego is determined by the seller. Cars often sell through Nego, and this can be a sound way to secure a car away from other bidders bidding the price up.

This auction lot was cancelled.

Often due to a drastic re-grading as new evidence of odometer issues or repair history.

This result of this auction is unknown.

This is usually displayed on listings from USS, HAA or JAA. These houses do not want sold prices appearing in the public domain. However, JPN track the sold status of 75 of the most common chassis codes to give our members the most complete data set in the industry.
