Many cars produced from 2000 ~ have digital odometers that were designed to read in kilometers per hour and the odometer to count up in kilometers. Many other importers fit speedo chips to the vehicles but do not reprogramme the odometer to show the correct mileage in miles.
For example a vehicle imported with 100,000km on the odometer should be programmed to show 62,000 miles the day the speedo chip is installed.
